This month, we had a quick and interesting chat with our creative and ever-reliable User Interface Designer, Emmanuel, who creates visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces for our digital products and platforms.
What do you do and what role do you play at Vella?
I’m a User Interface (UI) Designer at Vella, and my role primarily revolves around creating visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces for our digital products and platforms. As a UI Designer, I play a crucial role in crafting the overall look and feel of our applications, websites, or software. This involves designing layouts, selecting color schemes, creating icons, and ensuring that the user experience is intuitive and engaging. My goal is to make sure that our users have a seamless and enjoyable interaction with our products through well-designed interfaces.
What does your typical workday look like?
In my role as a UI Designer at Vella, my typical workday includes designing interfaces, collaborating with teams, gathering feedback, and staying updated on industry trends.
What aspect of working at Vella do you enjoy the most?
What I enjoy the most about working at Vella is the creative freedom and the chance to contribute to innovative projects that genuinely make a difference in the user experience. As a UI Designer, I have the privilege of shaping the visual aspects of our digital products, and I find it incredibly fulfilling to see my designs come to life and positively impact our users.
Also, Vella Finance fosters a collaborative and supportive work culture that makes every day enjoyable. I appreciate the open lines of communication and the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, including UX designers, developers, and product managers. This collaborative environment not only enhances the quality of our projects but also provides valuable opportunities for learning and professional growth.

What is the best part of working remotely?
The best part of working remotely is, I’m allowed to create a work environment that suits my needs and preferences, which in turn enhances my productivity and work-life balance. Additionally, it eliminates the need for daily commuting, saving both time and stress, and enabling me to focus more on my tasks and projects.
Describe what you do to a five year old.
Imagine this; I’m like a digital decorator. Instead of a coloring book, I make computer apps and websites look awesome and simple to use. I pick the colors, place buttons where they make sense, and ensure everything is easy for folks to understand when they play games or surf the web on their computer or phone.
What is one thing you wish you could change about your job?
I find my job as a UI Designer at Vella Finance truly enjoyable, and I’m content with the way it is. I don’t have any specific changes I’d like to make.
What is the best piece of advice you have received?
The best piece of advice I’ve received is to “Put God first in anything you do, and He will make a way.” This advice emphasizes the importance of faith, trust, and spirituality in navigating life’s challenges and decisions.
An all expense paid trip to Venice, which Vella colleague would you go with and why?
Sigh…This, I can’t really say much about it, because I actually prefer traveling solo. Perhaps it’s because I enjoy my own company.
